You may be eligible for a Voucher of up to €2,500 for an eCommerce website under the Local Enterprise Office.
Under the ‘Online Trading Voucher Scheme’, the Local Enterprise Office now offer assistance to small businesses by providing a European grant. The funding aims to help companies create an e-Commerce website to compete in the ever-increasing online market.
In receiving this Voucher, the cost of getting an eCommerce website designed for you will be considerably less than before, with the added value of bringing extra revenue to your business. According to the Local Enterprise Office, Businesses have found an increase in sales of 20% since going online and an 80% increase in sales leads.
As of 2015 only an approximate 23% of small businesses in Ireland were “engaged in any meaningful way in eCommerce sales”. The benefits of having an eCommerce website in Ireland can be fantastic, especially for a small business.
What are the requirements for this grant in 2019?
The Local Enterprise Office stipulates that in order to be eligible for an ‘Trading Online Voucher’, your business must:
- Have a turnover which is less than two million
- Have a maximum of ten employees or less.
- Be officially trading for at least six months.
- Have your registered business address within the region of the Local Enterprise Office that you’re making an application to.
- Have attended a Trading Online Voucher Seminar within the last 12 months.
Remember that this grant is specifically designed for eCommerce websites and not brochure websites, or offline trading platforms. The key element of an eCommerce online trading platform is that a financial transaction is being made to your company online however this does not strictly have to take place in order to be eligible.
For professional services (solicitors, accountants, etc) or the likes of hairdressers and barbers, a booking mechanism for an appointment or a call-back is classed as trading online.
How much time is left to apply 2019?
As there are a limited amount of Vouchers in your area of the country, some online trading vouchers will have already been given out. If you are in the Kildare area however, there is an upcoming Trading Online Voucher Seminar on November 20th. For more information on this event and how to apply, visit the Local Enterprise website.
